PEAC Health & Fitness is set to collect new school supplies for children of low income families supported by HomeFront of Mercer County.

According to HomeFront, there are more than 1,800 homeless people in Mercer County and more than half are families with young children.

HomeFront provides each family what they need most, and school supplies are a basic need for the children of these families.

PEAC is collecting basic supplies all school-age children, including pencils, crayons, notebooks, rulers and calculators.

In addition, HomeFront notes there is always a particular need for new clothes, including socks, underwear and uniform clothing, such as light blue golf shirts and khaki pants.

The school supplies drive is scheduled for August 1 through 22.

HomeFront aims to provide an array of support services for homeless families and those in danger of becoming homeless. Services include temporary shelters, affordable housing, educational and recreational programs for children and life-skills and employment readiness training for adults. It is located in Lawrenceville.

PEAC is located at 1440 Lower Ferry Road, Ewing.
