More than 100 residents and township officials celebrated the reopening of the newly renovated Hollowbrook Community Center and Pool on May 31.
Children of all ages swam in the new splash park and updated pool during the free swim hours. Guests were treated to refreshments and information by the groups that call Hollowbrook home—Mercer County Library, CYO of Mercer County Day Care, The Ewing Food Pantry, Camp Fire USA and Ewing Senior and Recreation Department.
The reopening of Hollowbrook comes after the center was closed for renovations in June 2016.
Improvements were done made using HUD Community Development Block Grant Funding. Renovations include: a new roof, new HVAC systems and boilers, new ADA-compliant bathroom, new exterior signage, new windows, LED lighting, new emergency lights, new flooring, updated fire and burglar alarm systems, two new kitchens, new sound system in the community room, new interior and exterior doors.
The Hollowbrook Pool facility was completely redone with an updated main pool and new splash park.
Hollowbrook also has a new computer lab, which was made possible by the partnerships with Ewing Public Education Foundation, which provided financial management, and ETS.
Employees of ETS, through their ETS Employees’ Community Action Fund donated funds for the computer lab project. the computer lab hosts computer classes, open lab hours and free public Wi-Fi.
The township offers pool memberships to both Ewing pools at Hollowbrook and also the Ewing Senior and Community Center. The pool season runs from Memorial Day through Labor Day. For hours and more information, go to ewingnj.org, or call (609) 883-1776 or (609) 883-1199.
