Guests can enter a world full of pirates, knights, and fairies when the 2018 New Jersey Renaissance Faire opens its doors at Liberty Lake on Saturday, May 19.
The fair runs May 19-20, 26-27 and June 2-3 and follows the story of the 16th Century Irish pirate queen Grace O’Malley and her quest for justice from the English Governor of Connacht, Sir Richard Bingham. Festivities begin each day at 10 a.m. and end at 6 p.m.
The fair has activities for fans of all ages. Kids can learn how to be a true knight at the interactive Knight School. They’ll find fairies throughout the grounds of the fair and learn dances with Peasant Dance. They may even run into a magical leprechaun.
Other activities include stories told by living history storytellers, see Renaissance weapon demonstrations and watch glassblower Jason Klein create pieces unique to the Renaissance Faire. Guests can also visit one of the seven stages on the grounds, featuring identical twin, sword-fighting duo the Lords of Adventure, comedy troupe Pieces of Eight and music from the Ivanhoe Brass Ensemble and the Wandering Fiddler. Ladies’ trio Chaste Treasure, which originated at the New Jersey Renaissance Faire, also returns this year. Guests can browse the Merchant Village Lady Gwendolyn’s Costume Rental Booth will also offer outfits for guests to try on. Food and drink is on tap from Valenzano Wines and the South Jersey Celtic Society Meade and Ale Garden.
Single-day passes are $20 for adults and $12 for children. Six-day passes are $50 for adults and $25 for children. Children under 5 are free. For more information or to purchase tickets, visit njrenfaire.com.
