Work on Alexander Road Roundabout

Work on the center median in the new Alexander Road roundabout has raised the eyebrows of residents around town.

But according to West Windsor officials, the work is nothing serious, and most importantly, is not costing the township any money.

“When it was originally constructed, there were some problems with the underlying cement base,” said Patricia Ward, the director of the Department of Community Development for the township. “There was some cracking and some stress. The state DOT is having that redone now that the weather has gotten warmer.”

Ward said that the design of the roundabout median has not changed, and there is nothing new proposed there. “It’s just a repair for something that didn’t get properly cured last year.”

West Windsor officials said the work is being performed under the direction of the state Department of Transportation and is being done by the original contractor, which is absorbing the cost of the work.

The roundabout table is being reconstructed as originally designed and will not create a change for cars, cyclists, or pedestrians, a township press release stated.
