Drug Arrest. Jamie L. Jimenez, 33, of Edison was arrested December 30 on a drug possession charge. Officer Christopher VanNess said he stopped Jimenez, who was driving a red four-door Ford, on Route 1 at Alexander Road for a broken light and an expired registration.

The officer said he detected the odor of burning marijuana coming from inside the car, and Jimenez consented to allow Officer VanNess to search his car.

The search revealed a sandwich bag with suspected marijuana, and Jimenez was arrested and taken to police headquarters for processing. He was also charged with driving with a suspended license, and uninsured driving. He was released pending a future court date.

DWI Arrest. Vinu M. Abraham of Huntington, PA, was arrested January 1 on a drunk driving charge. Officer Kyle Brown said he stopped Brown on Route 1 south near Carnegie Center Boulevard and detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage.

Officer Brown said he conducted a series of field sobriety tests and determined that Abraham was driving while intoxicated. Abraham was arrested and transported to the police station, where he was also charged with reckless driving and failure to maintain a lane. He was released pending a future court date.
