Community Middle School teachers Debbie Kline and Maria Pyle were honored by the United Nations on Friday, February 1, with the 2008 Best Practices CTAUN Award. This honor is bestowed by the Committee on Teaching at the United Nations, and honors a best practice in the classroom for middle school social studies.##M:[more]##

The two faculty members received this honor at the United Nations conference in New York City. Attendees at this conference were educators and administrators at all levels and disciplines, as well as all concerned citizens. The program, which illustrated ways of promoting an understanding of our interdependence in relation to environmental and cultural issues, included speakers from the United Nations, and an information fair showcasing materials and educational resources.
