Princeton Garden Theatre to screen The Great Beauty

The Princeton World Cinema Series is set to continues April 9, with a screening of The Great Beauty at the Princeton Garden Theatre. The Italian film recently received the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film.

“The Great Beauty” is the story of journalist Jep Gambardella, whose one and only novel has made him a fixture in lavish nightlife of Rome. After his 65th birthday party, he walks through the ruins and city streets, where several casual meetings force him to reconsider his priorities and rediscover the true glories of Rome.

The film was directed by Paolo Sorrentino and is in Italian with English subtitles.

It runs 2 hours and 22 minutes and is not rated.

The series concludes May 13 at 6 p.m. with a screening of The Past.

In the film, an Iranian man reunites with his estranged wife in Paris to finalize their divorce, which is soon complicated by a shocking revelation by her daughter from a previous marriage.

Tickets to World Cinema Series screenings are $10 and can be purchased at the Princeton Garden Theatre box office. Proceeds benefit the library.

Princeton Garden Theatre is located at 160 Nassau Street, Princeton.
