Princeton Battlefield Society to host Veterans Day Observance ceremony Nov 11

The Princeton Battlefield Society is set to hold a nondenominational Veterans Day Observance ceremony on Wednesday, November 11, 2015 at 1:30 p.m. The event will take place at at the Colonnade at the northern side of Princeton Battlefield State Park.

The Princeton Battlefield Society is set to hold a nondenominational Veterans Day Observance ceremony on Wednesday, November 11, 2015 at 1:30 p.m. The event will take place at at the Colonnade at the northern side of Princeton Battlefield State Park.

The Society will present, “Honoring the First Marine to Die in a Land Battle in Addition to All Those Soldiers Who Fell in the American Revolution.”

The event is set to honor William Shippen, who died at the Battle of Princeton, as well as all who fell in the American Revolution. Shippen was the first U.S. Marine in history to die in a land battle. At the end of the ceremony there will be a special observance at a marker for 21 British and 15 Americans who were among those who died at the Battle of Princeton and were buried in a mass grave.
