Residents will soon be receiving newsletters, and will be able to access even more information about redevelopment on the township’s website courtesy of a $32,000 grant from the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission.

The township received the grant last year for community outreach associated with smart growth.

The township then received a proposal from the Municipal Land Use Center of the College of New Jersey, which will have its professionals gather information from township officials to create newsletters, fact sheets, and create website postings. The work could also include possible television recordings as well. The grant money will be used to pay the Municipal Land Use Center for doing this work.

The council approved a resolution authorizing a professional services agreement with the center during its meeting on December 29, using the $32,”000 grant to pay for the outreach services. The center submitted a proposal to the township in October.

Hsueh said that because the land use center is affiliated with a state college, the township is not required to go through a competitive bidding process for the work. Hsueh also said that the center specializes in regional land use research. “I thought it was a good idea for academia to help get involved in this,” he said.

No money from the township budget will be used to pay for the work. The professionals from the land use center will be consulting with Sam Surtees, the township’s Division of Land Use manager, for information they need.
