Food for HomeFront

More than 20 Girl Scouts from West Windsor and Plainsboro participated in a food drive for HomeFront in November. For close to five years, Junior troop 1885 and Cadette troop 1285 have collected food items to make up Thanksgiving baskets for needy families in the area. The girls hand out shopping lists at area supermarkets and ask shoppers to buy an extra canned good to donate on the way out.

“It is always a successful food drive as the shoppers are generous,” says Natalie Caricato, one of the Girl Scout leaders. “We also get a lot of assistance from many of the troops in the WW-P service unit. So many pitch in to lend a hand and run their own food drives to donate baskets of food. This year we had to use two houses for collection and the truck had to come back twice to pick it all up.”
