The Township Council has awarded a $126,999 contract for the installation of lighting at the softball and baseball fields at Community Park.

The contract, awarded to Musco Sports Lighting LLC, of Oskaloosa, IA, was the lowest of six bids received in April. The funding for the project comes from money set aside in the 2009 budget.

According to Business Administrator Robert Hary, the township’s efforts to install field lighting began with the installation of lighting at the Babe Ruth League field years ago. “We did the lacrosse fields last year, and now we’re following up with the Little League and softball field this year,” he said.

Hary said the lights are expected to be installed in late July or early August.
