The West Windsor Environmental Commission and the Stony Brook-Millstone Watershed Association will host the sixth annual D&R Canal Cleanup on Saturday, April 21, from 1 to 3 p.m.

Volunteers will meet at Port Mercer D&R Canal parking lot, across the canal from the Port Mercer Canal House on Quaker Road and Province Line Road. All ages are welcome. Event organizer Randi Kronthal-Sacco notes that the annual event “is a great way to keep trash out of our rivers and oceans.”

To sign up, send an E-mail to Leslie Brecknell (lbrecknell@thewatershed.org) or call 609-737-3735, ext. 30. All participants who sign up ahead of time will have a t-shirt reserved for them.

Kronthal-Sacco advises participants to wear a long sleeved shirt, sturdy boots, and work gloves, if possible. The organizers provide trash bags, trash pick-up equipment, and snacks.

The Stony Brook-Millstone Watershed Association works with residents, local groups and municipal, county and state leaders on a wide variety of initiatives and actions.
