Supplies for Katrina

The Princeton Corridor Rotary Club and Dutch Neck Presbyterian Church organized and collected supplies for Katrina victims. The collection included paper goods, cleaning products, books, toys, food, batteries, and personal hygiene products.##M:[more]## Florence Cohen of West Windsor coordinated the efforts and the collection was part of the four tractor trailers shipped to Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Texas. Rotarians in the southern regions secured warehouses and distributed them where needed.

Cohen also donated her long hair to Locks of Love, an organization that uses human hair to make wigs for cancer patients. Her hair was cut and styled by Fern Sacks at Arleen’s Hair Studio in West Windsor. Sacks, who is a breast cancer survivor, has worked at Arleen’s for a number of years.

Panera’s in West Windsor was part of the 20 Panera Bread bakery cafes in New Jersey owned by Fenwick Group, also in West Windsor, that pledged a $75,”000 donation to the Community FoodBank of New Jersey. Jaime Escolero, general manager of the Nassau Park location, helped present the check to the food bank.
