A three-vehicle collision on South Broad Street in Hamilton resulted in the death of a 62-year-old Lawrenceville woman, police said.

The crash occurred around 10:05 p.m. on Dec. 20 near the intersection of South Broad Street and Hempstead Road. According to the Hamilton Township Police Department, the collision involved a 2021 Volkswagen Tiguan, a 2011 Hyundai Sonata, and a 2003 Toyota Camry.

Authorities said the Volkswagen, driven by Anthony Pipitone, 45, of Waterford Township, was traveling eastbound when it collided head-on with the westbound Hyundai. A Toyota Camry, driven by Byron W. Zepeda Gonzalez, 43, of Trenton, then struck the rear of the Hyundai after the initial crash.

Both Pipitone and the driver of the Hyundai were taken by ambulance to Capital Health Regional Trauma Center in Trenton, police said. Zepeda Gonzalez was transported to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in Hamilton.

The driver of the Hyundai succumbed to her injuries the following morning, Dec. 21, police said. Her identity has not been released pending notification of next of kin.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation, though police noted that weather conditions were poor at the time due to active snowfall.

Officer B. DiBiasi of the Hamilton Police Traffic Unit is investigating the crash. Authorities are asking anyone who witnessed the incident to contact the Hamilton Police Traffic Unit at (609) 581-4000.
