The Presbyterian Church of Lawrenceville is hosting “The Music of Three Faiths: A Benefit Concert for Refugees” on Saturday, April 30 at 7 p.m.
Musicians from the Turkish band, “Wind of Anatolia,” the Klezmer band, “Odessa Klezmer,” and the bluegrass quintet, “Barncats” will perform at the Presbyterian Church of Lawrenceville to bring together people of many cultures and raise funds for The International Rescue Committee (IRC).
This concert has been organized by members of the Peace Island Institute, Temple Micah and The Presbyterian Church of Lawrenceville, who have been sponsoring three-faith gatherings for over six years to build bridges of communication and to learn about each other’s faith and cultures.
“With the horrific plight of refugees of all three faiths, we felt compelled to organize this benefit concert to build mutual understanding and raise funds for the refugees,” Gooitzen van der Wal, of The Presbyterian Church of Lawrenceville, said.

Peace Islands Institute is a nonprofit peacebuilding organization that facilitates mutual respect and collaboration among people from different ethnic, cultural and religious backgrounds. The Presbyterian Church in Lawrenceville, a worshiping community for over 315 years, has enjoyed a long-term friendship with Temple Micah since 1969, when they opened their doors to the new temple to provide a place for worship, celebration and learning.
All proceeds from the concert will benefit refugees served by The International Rescue Committee (IRC), which responds to the world’s worst humanitarian crises and helps people to survive and rebuild their lives.
After the concert audience members will have an opportunity to greet the performers and converse with each other.
