Christine’s Hope for Kids is celebrating its fifth anniversary this year. As a part of its 2015 celebration activities, Christine’s Hope will host 5 Years and Running, a fun, family-oriented color run and field day on October 18, 2015. The event will be held 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Rosedale Park, 422 Federal City Road, Pennington.

The event is free. The first 200 folks to sign up for the fun run and field day will receive a 5 Years and Running t-shirt and goody bag.

Throughout the 1.05-mile family color run/walk, participants will be showered every quarter mile with non-toxic powder in a plethora of colors. At the end of the race, runners and walkers will be presented with a Christine’s Hope for Kids color run medal.

Immediately following the color run, 5 Years and Running event organizers will lead participants in five field day events including egg-on-a-spoon, hop sack and kick-around-the-cone races.

Refreshments including bagels, water and other goodies will be available throughout the event thanks to the generosity of many local businesses. Capitalizing on the generosity and kindness of the community, event organizers are also asking participants to bring a new children’s book to the event to donate to Christine’s Hope for Kids. Books will be included in Christine’s Hope holiday pajama bags distributed to shelters and families in need in time for the holidays this December 2015.

The day is set to end with a drawing for five prizes. Raffle tickets will be available for purchase at Rosedale Park beginning at 9 a.m. with the drawing held at 10:45 a.m. Prizes include, but are not limited to, a basketball signed by the Princeton University women’s basketball team and autographed merchandise from Major League Baseball.

To volunteer at or sponsor 5 Years and Running on October 18, visit christineshope.org. Sponsorships are available for community members and businesses. A $200 sponsorship will provide (1) a logo or family name on event t-shirts and signage and (2) the opportunity to put a small item or note or business card in 200 event goody bags.
