U.S. Department of Health and Human Services awarded a $4 million federal grant to Henry J. Austin Health Center’s Bellevue facility.

Representative Rush Holt announced the grant during a visit to the center to celebrate the opening the Bellevue facility at 433 Bellevue Ave, Trenton.

The grant supports the establishment of the Bellevue satellite health center and ensures expanded access to health care for Trenton residents who currently have no medical home.

The Affordable Care Act that Rep. Holt helped pass into law, included $11 billion for the operation, expansion and construction of community health centers such as HJAHC.

Community health centers play an essential role in the implementation of the Affordable Care Act. In particular, health centers emphasize the coordination of primary and preventive services.

The grant funding helps support the fourth HJAHC. The former Capital Health Family Medicine opened its doors as Henry J. Austin Health Center- Bellevue last month.

Patients at HJAHC- Bellevue remain with their same doctors; however, patients now have the added benefit of HJAHC’s full scope of services, including comprehensive primary care and preventative care adult and family medicine, internal medicine, discount pharmacy options, gynecology, pediatrics, family dentistry, optometry, podiatry and mental health services.
