Aparna Shankar, a 2010 graduate of High School North, is in a group of student leaders biking from San Francisco to Boston to raise awareness and funds for Face AIDS organization. The seven-member team began riding on June 19 and will end on August 21.

During their 70-day journey they organized educational speaking events in local communities, spoke with media outlets, and raised funds through outreach programs. This is the first year that the team has all female members. Visit faceaids.­org for more information.

Shanker graduated from Rutgers and will pursue her master’s in public health in the fall at Columbia. The team stayed at her family home in Plainsboro on August 14.
