The Crisis Ministry of Mercer County’s ninth annual food drive is set for Feb. 7-14.

The Crisis Ministry teamed up with Rotary Club of Princeton and McCaffrey’s Supermarkets in Princeton and West Windsor for the Valentines for Food drive.

Last year, the Crisis Ministry collected six tons of food and $14,943 for its pantry.

The supermarkets are set to sell “Valentines for Food” for $4.99 a piece. McCaffrey’s will match its shoppers’ charitable purchases up to $5,000.

The Crisis Ministry is seeking volunteers to hand out filers at the supermarkets for a one-hour time slot Monday through Friday 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday 12 to 6 p.m. Volunteers can sign up by emailing valentines4food@gmail.com.

Additionally, Princeton and West Windsor-Plainsboro public schools and many area churches are set to participate in the drive. All Saints’ Episcopal Church, Christ Congregation, Nassau Presbyterian Church, Presbyterian Church of Lawrenceville, Princeton United Methodist Church, Trinity Church Princeton, Trinity Church Rocky Hill and Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Princeton are set to collect donations.

Donors can participate online through “Virtual Valentines” on the Crisis Ministry’s website. The organization will send a special greeting via email or regular mail to a person of the purchaser’s choosing.
