Mercer County author John Allison is set to donate his royalties from his new book to help restore the shore.

After Hurricane Sandy, Allison, who sails on the Barnagat Bay, was compelled to donate the royalties from Saturday Night at Sarah Joy’s to the Hurricane Sandy New Jersey Relief Fund.

“It’s the very least I can do after all the years of joy the shore has given to my family and I,” Allison said in a statement.

Unconventional and slightly quirky, Saturday Night at Sarah Joy’s tells the story of a salon owner who invites her clients for trims, wine and conversation on Saturday evenings.

During one gathering, Sarah Joy finds a shotgun pressed against her forehead and her friends’ true personalities show through.

The paperback edition ($14.95) and the e-book ($3.95) are available on-line through Barnes & Noble, Amazon and direct from Infinity Publishing. On-line purchases from the publisher result in the largest contributions to the Sandy Relief Fund.

Allison, an author and playwright, is a Philadelphia native who spent 25 years teaching chemistry at a university in the Midwest. He now teaches at The College of New Jersey and can be found sailing his vessel, Abby-Gale, on the Barnagat Bay.
