Walk for India to benefit Uttarakhand flood victims

The Overseas Volunteers for a Better India are set to host a walkathon for victims of flooding in Uttarakhand

In June, a multi-day cloudburst caused landslides and floods in the North Indian state of Uttarakhand. More than 5,700 people are presumed dead and entire villages are destroyed.

The Walk for India, Walk for Uttarakhand fundraiser is scheduled for 8 to 11 a.m. on Aug. 18 at Robbinsville Community Park, 15 West Manor War, Robbinsville.

Along with 3K and 5K walks, the event features shopping, face painting, performances and food vendors.

Registration is $10 for individuals and $20 for a family of four. Registration for a booth is $35.

Overseas Volunteers plans to donate proceeds to the International Association for Human Values and the Art of Living Foundation’s relief efforts.

The walk also celebrates Indian Independence Day, which is one Aug. 15.

The rain date for this event is Aug. 25.
