CMS Wins Regional Science Olympiads

Community Middle School’s Science Olympiad Team, above, won its two regional championships. The students received 16 gold medals in 25 events for the two tournaments. Results include:

Anatomy: First place for Jason Yang and Zhendong Jiang. Second place for Jasen Zhang and Ashu Shaik.

Biology Blitz: First place for Roger Jin and Catherine Huang.

Bottle Rocket: First place for Matthew Pan and James Zou.

Disease Detectives: Third place for Derek Ma and Ben Yang.

Dynamic Planet: First place for Alan Xu and Vrinda Gupta.

Experimental Design: First place for Kathryn Khaw, Roger Jin, and Ronald Wang. Second place for Vrinda Gupta, Nick Leung, and Edison Lee.

Food Science: Second place for Nikita Nangia and Charles Dai.

Forestry: Third place for Kiruthika Devasenapathy and Shannon Sheu.

Helicopters: Second place for Varun Subbiah and Andrew Hong.

Meteorology: First place for Ashu Shaik and Shannon Sheu.

Mousetrap Vehicle: First place for Jeremy Zhang and Tyler Shen. Sixth place for Louis Wang and Varun Subbiah.

Optics: First place for Jacob Edelman and Sundar Solai.

Reach for the Stars: First place for Divya Unnam, Raymond Zhang, Andrew Hong, and Reuben Van Eck.

Road Scholar: First place for Mahesh Khanwalkar, Ryan Zhang, Varun Subbiah, and Alan Xu.

Rocks and Minerals: First place for Tyler Shen, Matthew Pan, Nick Leung, and Nikita Nangia.

Towers: First place for Louis Wang and Andrew Hong. Second place for Alex Jiang and Matthew Pan.

Write It/Do It: First place for Kimberly Ding and Diana Tang. Fifth place for Catherine Huang and Kristina Khaw.

Kyle Schimpf is the head coach. Assistant coaches are Taran Patton and Arthur Downs.
