At the January 30 Council meeting two professional services contracts pertaining to tax collections were renewed. Council approved a year-long, $10,000 agreement with Sockler Realty Services Group of East Windsor to provide valuation analysis in matters of tax appeal defense that may arise.

Additionally, Hamilton Square-based attorney Harry Haushalter was re-hired as the township’s special tax counsel for 2012, with a one-year, $20,000 contract. Council agreed to both by unanimous votes.

Assisting Seniors. West Windsor senior citizens will be able to have their federal and state income taxes prepared free of charge by volunteers from the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP). Starting Tuesday, February 7, until Tuesday, April 10, the Senior Center at 271 Clarksville Road will have an income tax assistance program available from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m for low and moderate income older adults.
