Budget Transfers Total $150,000

At the Plainsboro Committee meeting on November 10, Chief Financial Officer Greg Mayers announced $150,000 in budget transfers for 2011, mainly due to costs related to this year’s severe weather. The total was up from $105,000 in transfers in 2010.

The following budget items required additional funding:

Gasoline and diesel fuel costs, $50,000; streets and roads operations, $29,000; streets and roads salary and wages,$15,000; expenses related to the Community Services Act, $20,000; public buildings and grounds operations, $10,000; street lighting, $6,000; parks and playgrounds salary and wages, $5,000; shade tree operations, $5,000; clerk’s office salary and wages, $3,000; planning board salary and wages, $2,000; purchasing salary and wages, $1,000; tax collections, $1,000; administration salary and wages, $500; and municipal prosecutor salary, $500.

To make up for those increased expenses, reductions were made in following budget items:

Salary and wages for a plumbing inspector, $40,000; Social Security System operations, $30,000; police salary and wages, $25,000; recreation salary and wages, $20,000; tax assessment salary and wages, $10,000; municipal court salary and wages, $10,000; first aid salary and wages, $5,000; construction code official salary and wages, $5,000; and purchasing salary and wages, $5,000.
