The West Windsor Council voted unanimously to pass an ordinance establishing the terms of the appointed members of boards and committees to bring them into line with the council members’ terms.

The ordinance, approved on June 1, complements a council decision earlier this year to move municipal elections from May to the same day as the November general elections.

The ordinance sets the terms of all members and advisors of and liaisons to the Agricultural Advisory Committee; Cable Television Advisory Board; Shade Tree Commission; Planning Board; Site Plan Review Advisory Board; and Zoning Board of Adjustment.

Under the ordinance, the new terms will begin on January 1 and expire on December 31. Previously, the terms began on July 1 of each year and expired June 30. As a result of the changes, the terms of the current members will be extended by six months.
