Ericka Honig has made it to the final auditions to the Philadelphia Eagles Cheerleaders. More than 400 young women auditioned and she is in the final 60 dancers. Honig, 19, who graduated from High School South last June, is majoring in dance at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia. A cheerleader since Grover Middle School, she was varsity captain at South all four years of high school. She trained in Hamilton at Dance It Up Studio under Jennifer Chin-Gorner. She is also a graduate of the Mercer County Performing Arts High School where she was the only sophomore ever accepted for dance. She is currently on the Philadelphia Wings Lacrosse Angels Dance Team.

The open cast audition was held on Saturday, March 28, at the Lincoln Financial Field. Cheerleaders performed a new short dance combination in groups of five in front of a panel of judges. Contestants were judged on dance ability, physical fitness, beauty, and showmanship. There has since been an elimination round and interviews.

Most Eagles cheerleaders have full time jobs or attend college full time while making personal appearances and cheering at least 10 home games. There are 38 open spots since existing cheerleaders must audition every year. For more information visit www.philadelphiaeagles.com/cheerleaders.
