Grover and Community middle school students took the majority of titles at the recent regional Mathcounts competition. Both teams are coached by Alyce Doehner.

Community students included team players Payal Marathe, Ajit Unnam, Derek Yan, and Benjamin Zhang; and individuals Eugene Tang, Michael Zhou, Daniel Liu, and Frederick Huang.

Grover team contestants included Peter Ku, Alexander Clifton, Elizabeth Yang, and Arka Adhikari; and individuals Catherine Ding, Kevin Luo, Arjun Raghuraman, and Jeffrey Kuan.##M:[more]##

Awards were received for individual scores by Peter Ku, first place; Alexander Clifton, second place; Elizabeth Yang, fifth place; Derek Yan, sixth place; Eugene Tang, seventh place; Daniel Liu, ninth place; Kevin Luo, tenth place; Arka Adhikari, 11th place; Ajit Unnam, 13th place; Catherine Ding, 14th place; Jeffrey Kuan, 15th place; and Benjamin Zhang, 16th place.

Community took first place in the team round with Grover placing second. Both teams continue to the state competition at Rutgers University on Saturday, March 8; with a snow date Saturday, March 15.
