Florence E. Cohen of West Windsor, a Prudential Financial retiree, received a Prudential CARES Volunteer Grants Award of $1,”000 for Project Freedom. Cohen contributed more than 360 hours in 2005 to Project Freedom, serving on the board of directors and as chairman on the personnel committee. Her presentations to the Planning Board and Town Council of West Windsor garnered approval from the Mayor and Town Council for a Project Freedom housing complex for the disabled, to be housed on donated land. Project Freedom provides housing and support services for the disabled. It advocates for tenants and provides training classes and social support leading to work, school, and an independent lifestyle.
