Rabbi Jeremy Master is the new assistant rabbi at Congregation Beth Chaim in West Windsor. A graduate of Wesleyan University with a degree in social sciences and religion, he received a master of arts in Hebrew literature from the Hebrew Union College Institute of Religion.##M:[more]##

Since his ordination in 2003, he has worked as an advisor at Swarthmore College and served as assistant rabbi at Temple B’nai Sholom in East Brunswick. He has also taught both youth and adult classes at synagogues in Connecticut, New Jersey, and New York.

At B’nai Sholom he served as the junior youth group advisor, prepared children for their bar or bat mitzvahs, and planned a high school trip to Israel.

“His experiences as an educator support our congregations’s commitment to lifelong learning, and as a rabbi, he can help us continue to strengthen our caring community,” says Beth Chaim President Rosanne Smolowitz of West Windsor.

Master is married to Rabbi Alana Wasserman, assistant rabbi at Congregation M’kor Shalom in Cherry Hill. Master is replacing Associate Rabbi Batsheva Appel. He will be supervised by Senior Rabbi Eric Wisnia, Beth Chaim’s leader for more than 30 years.

“I want to help make Judaism relevant to people and make it mean something in their lives,” he says. “I want to form real connections with people within the synagogue and the community at large.”
