Several West Windsor and Plainsboro residents competed recently in the Special Olympics Summer Games. ##M:[more]##

West Windsor athletes in the Special Olympics Summer Games included Linda Carlson, age 49; Taylore Davis-Bryan, 18; Carl Ross Edmunds, 23; Claire Hamara, 34; Holly Klausner, 17; Junichi Kusakawa, 21; Matthew Neufeld, 19; Edward O’Connor, 18; Jessica Rockoff, 23; Candice Weissman, 26; Margo Lee, 18; Rebekah Sadanand, 21; James Guy Tadie, 17; and Katherine Terzian, 24. Plainsboro athletes included John Fletcher, 62; Lauren Gallagher, 43; and Michael Ramos, 16.

Three area athletes will represent New Jersey in Special Olympics USA National Games in Ames, Iowa, from July 2 to 7. More than 3,”000 athletes from all 50 states take part in the competition.

Robert Nester of West Windsor is on the gymnastics team with four teammates. A Life Scout in Boy Scouts, he is a member of their national honor society. Involved in Special Olympics for 22 years, he competes in six sports. He is a graduate of West Windsor-Plainsboro High School, Class of 1996.

Monica Koppstein of West Windsor will compete on the bowling team. She is a student at High School North. Involved with Special Olympics for eight years, she has three teammates from New Jersey.

One of her teammates, Laura Kasper of Hamilton, graduated from West Windsor-Plainsboro High School, Class of 1997. Involved in Special Olympics for 21 years, she also plays tennis, soccer, and skis.

“I have always loved sports and Special Olympics has given me the opportunity to participate in so many sports,” says Kasper.
