The West Windsor 12-year-old all-star baseball team has been invincible in tournament play this year. West Windsor, the last undefeated team left in the District 12 tournament, will play Nottingham at R.J. Ward Field on Saturday, July 15, at 5 p.m. for a chance to move on in its quest to make it to the Little League World Series.

The boys breezed into the final nine round after going 4-0 in first-round action. A tie-breaker left them as the number two team from their pool, since Florence also went undefeated but did so with a greater run differential.

The boys played to a 4-4 tie with Washington on Wednesday, July 12, before rain caused the end of the game to be postponed until Thursday.

The game resumed with one out in the sixth inning, and West Windsor continued its win streak. Joe Jensen took the mound and struck out three of the six batters he faced. Adam Charnin-Aker provided the offensive spark, with a two-run homer in the seventh inning that barely cleared the wall in right field.

West Windsor will now play Nottingham in the Championship game. By virtue of the double elimination format, West Windsor has two chances to defeat the perennial powerhouse and win the trophy. West Windsor beat Nottingham 11-6 when the two teams played on Friday, July 7.

If West Windsor were to win, it would be its first baseball championship at this level since 1991. The township’s little league is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, and has won the title twice in a half-century. The other victory was in 1982.
