Complaints by some West Windsor volunteer firefighters about the new emergency response pagers, saying they have missed some calls due to missing or garbled transmissions, have prompted West Windsor councilwoman Kristin Appelget to seek some answers.##M:[more]## She questioned West Windsor public safety director Jim Yates at the council meeting on March 28.
The pagers, which cost the township $34,”000, operate on a weaker signal (25 watts) than the former system (100 watts) and some officials believe that may be the problem. At the council meeting, Yates confirmed that the pagers use the lower frequency, but said that the license for the higher frequency went out of date.
