Bordentown Regional High School’s top 10 academic seniors have chosen their career paths.

The 2018-19 school year is wrapping up, and this year’s Top 10 academic seniors at Bordentown Regional High School are looking ahead toward college as graduation approaches.

Each student filled out a questionnaire about themselves, including information about their career plans, favorite Bordentown memories, extracurricular activities and teachers.

The seniors will attend colleges such as Johns Hopkins University, Elon University, UPenn, University of Pittsburgh, Boston University and UCLA.

They will study biomedical engineering, musical theater, finance, computer science, mathematics and political science on their way to prospective future careers like clinical pharmacists, engineers, finance directors and writers.

During their time at Bordentown, this year’s Top 10 students were involved with clubs like Model UN, theater club, Future Business Leaders of America, debate and Teens of Fire, as well as extracurriculars like National Honor Society, baseball, field hockey and STEM for kids.

The class of 2019’s graduation ceremony is set for Wednesday, June 19, 2019 at the Bordentown Regional High School Performing Arts Center, starting at 6 p.m.

1. Matthew Kunkler

College: Johns Hopkins University

Major: Biomedical engineering and business

Ideal career: Chief engineer/CEO

Activities: Debate, Model UN, National Honor Society, TSA, library book drive, informal chess club

Most influential teacher: Mr. Tobias. Two of my clubs are run by him, and it was his dedication in making sure hat I stayed involved that helped me become a more adaptable student when outside my comfort zone.

2. Abigayle Harnum

Elon University

Major: Musical theater

Ideal career: Performer/artist

Activities: International Thespian Society, theater club, choir, National Honor Society, stage crew, Cappies critic, Teens of Fire, Key Club, Model UN

Most influential teacher: Mr. Gens. He truly cared as to whether or not I became a better writer, and he taught me how to enjoy comprehensive literature.

3. Jaspreet Singh

College: University of Pennsylvania

Major: Finance

Ideal career: Director of analytics

Activities: Student council, Model UN, debate, FBLA, Interact, Spanish club, National Honors Society, TSA, STEM for Kids, baseball manager, informal chess club

Most influential teacher: Mr. Gens.

4. Dylan Wood

College: University of California – Los Angeles

Major: Political science

Ideal career: Director/writer

Activities: Baseball, National Honor Society, homecoming

Most influential teacher: Mr. Glenn for giving his all every day, both as a teacher and a coach.

5. Keira McAteer

College: Boston University

Major: Business finance

Ideal career: Finance director

Activities: Student council, Interact, Spanish club, Faith, Hope and Charity club, National Honor Society, bowling, field hockey, STEM for Kids

Most influential teacher: Mr. Gens always makes time to help me with work, in class and our of class, like college essays.

Favorite quote: “There is no limit to what we, as women, can accomplish.” –Michelle Obama

6. Tyler Comisky

College: University of Pittsburgh

Major: computer science

Ideal career: Security engineer

Activities: Marching band, pit orchestra, National Honor Society, TSA

Most influential teacher: Mr. Montalto because I have had him as a teacher every single year, and he has always pushed me to do my best and has helped me become who I am today.

Favorite quote: “The only time success comes before work is in the dictionary.”

7. Esha Talur

College: Stevens Institute of Technology

Major: engineering

Ideal career: Naval engineer

Activities: Model UN, Mock Trial, orchestra, STEM for Kids, TSA, biology club, tutoring

Most influential teacher: Mr. Gens and Mr. Tobias. Mr. Gens really helped me find what I am passionate about. Writing was never my storng suit, but Mr. Gens helped me develop my own style. Mr. Tobias has been a constant who pushed me to try new things and take on responsibilities.

8. Arthi Basharan

College:Rutgers University

Major: Doctor of pharmacy

Ideal career: Clinical pharmacist

Activities: Interact, orchestra, pit orchestra, National Honor Society, STEM for Kids, TSA, Spanish club

Most influential teacher: I wouldn’t say that one teacher was the most influential. Some of the teachers who have influenced me the most are Mrs. Bergner, Mr. Franklin, Mr. Rizzo, Mr. Gens, Mrs. Harrison, Ms. Jacobsen and Mrs. Bokop.

9. Isabella Mayo

College: Temple University

Activities: Theater club, International Thespian Society, soccer, Teens of Fire, choir, stage crew, Cappies critic, Model UN

Most influential teacher: Ms. Pinder because I had her English class my freshman year and then her class again senior year. She always encouraged me to do my best and is always so kind.

Favorite quote: “Try to be a rainbow in someone’s cloud.” –Maya Angelou

10. Brendon Weistcott

College: Stevens Institute of Technology

Major: Mathematics

Ideal career: Mathematician

Activities: Debate, TSA, robotics, homecoming

Most influential teacher: Ms. Ashish. She provided me countless opportunities to not only excel as a student, but also as a leader. I thank her for teaching me to be confident and for being there for me at every turn.
