Plainsboro resident Shriya Syamala designed the logo for the Centennial website.

In recognition of Plainsboro’s 100th anniversary this May 5, the township is planning a year-long series of events to celebrate the centennial.

The township has created a new centennial website at to provide more information on the festivities. The site is being sponsored by BCB Indus American Bank of Plainsboro.

In addition to a list of this year’s events, the website also features a photo gallery, a collection of “then and now” locations throughout the township, and a collection of shared stories about the township’s history.

“We’re inviting residents and visitors to join in a year-long celebration,” says the website. “We will be engaging the community through monthly activities, photo contests, historical timelines, testimonials and more.”

The first event is an exhibition at the Plainsboro Recreation and Cultural Center at 641 Plainsboro Road of photos submitted for the Centennial Photo Contest held last year. The exhibit runs from Feb. 6 to 28.

The exhibition officially opens at 6 p.m on Feb. 6, at which time the winner of the contest will be announced.

The contest called for submissions of photos that “capture the essence of Plainsboro,” including landmarks, nature, historical buildings, farms and parks.

Next month’s planned event is a stargazing at Princeton Alliance Church starting at 6 p.m. on March 9. The event will feature outdoor star gazing, an indoor star lab and hot cocoa and star cookies.

The official celebration of the township’s anniversary will come during the annual Founder’s Day celebration at the township municipal complex on Sunday, May 5.

Centennial merchandise will be available to purchase most events. For more information on the centennial, email
