This year our drive to help local shelter pets will be the biggest effort with your help. These shelters talk about the great citizens and businesses of West Windsor and their huge hearts. I have never in my life experienced such caring and generosity, and I look forward to this time every year.

I look forward to announcing this great event which culminates with the 4th Annual Operation Bark Drop, Dog/Cat Toy & Food Drive—where officers, including K-9 Cherno, who are the elite members of Elf Team Six, deliver the items to several local animal shelters.

Please go to your business, go to your family, go to your friends and go to your kids. Have them give. Remember, you are good to them all year long. What better day to give to these loving and caring best friends. If they can’t get their wish of a home, then maybe we can bring home to them and show them all the love they deserve.

We couldn’t be more proud of all the local residents and businesses that brought bags and bags of items for distribution.

Many of the shelter workers cried because they were so happy with the care and generosity of West Windsor residents and businesses. Let’s make this year even bigger.

Please bring all items to West Windsor Police headquarters, blue bin in the lobby by Dec. 18. Items will be distributed to several local shelters based on items received and quantity.

Items needed include: wet dog/cat food; dry dog/cat food; cat litter; dog and cat toys; leashes and collars; gentle leader headcollars (medium and large); dog and cat shampoo; new dog crates/cat carriers; animal bedding—polar fleece, cat tents, small beds and large beds; dog halters/harnesses and leashes (large); Premier Easy walk (front leading) harnesses for dogs (medium, large); Heartguard and Frontline (dogs 40 lbs. plus); food; and toys.

Contact me (garfo@westwindsorpolice.com) or Lt. Mark Lee (lee@westwindsorpolice.com) with any concerns.

Most important of all, from the bottom of my heart, thank you all for what you have done for the last three years. You have shown unmatched kindness and love and have shown me what this community is truly all about.
