A Florence Township man was arrested in West Windsor on drug and weapon possession charges after being involved in an accident on Oct. 22.

Police said that officers were dispatched to investigate a report of a car crash on Harrison Street near Route 1 in which the driver of a 2002 Cadillac Escalade, Vannis Leverett, 36, struck another vehicle that was stopped in the roadway.

Police said that Leverett had difficulty maintaining his balance and through further investigation it was determined that Leverett had been driving while intoxicated. Leverett was also found to be in possession of a .45 caliber Glock handgun with two loaded magazines that were in a duffel bag in the passenger compartment of the vehicle.

Also found in the care were two partially smoked marijuana cigarettes, under 50 grams of raw marijuana wrapped in plastic and drug paraphernalia, police said. Leverett was processed at police headquarters and then sent to the Mercer County Adult Correctional Center.


House fire

A home on Wayne Court was destroyed by fire on Nov. 14. Plainsboro police, fire, and EMS were dispatched to a home at 3 Wayne Court at 1:13 p.m. on a report of smoke coming from the residence.

Officers arrived at the location and secured a perimeter ensuring that surrounding residences were evacuated; neighbors confirmed that the residence on fire was unoccupied.

The Plainsboro Fire Department arrived on location and made entry, extinguishing the fire located on the second floor of the structure. Further assistance at the scene was provided by firefighters from Monroe, Princeton Plasma Physics, Kingston, Hightstown, Princeton Junction and Princeton. No injuries were sustained from the incident.

The residence was deemed uninhabitable by the township, and the fire is under investigation by the Plainsboro Township Fire Marshall.

West Windsor

Auto burglary

A Jill Drive resident was the victim of an auto break-in overnight Oct. 13 or 14. According to police, someone smashed the front driver’s side window on the victim’s car and stole some of the contents from inside. The driver’s side rear view mirror was also damaged.

Drug arrests

Tayib Mahmood, 28, of Woodbridge, was arrested on a drug possession charge on Oct. 8. Police said that Mahmood was stopped on Route 1 at Washington Road for speeding and was found to be in possession of under 50 grams of marijuana in a plastic bag. He was also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia for a small digital scale, police said.

Brandon Brantley, 21, of Trenton, was arrested on a marijuana possession charge on Oct. 12. Police said that officers were dispatched to a home on South Mill Road to on a report of a dispute at the residence. While at the scene, a computer check revealed that Brantley was wanted on two warrants out of Trenton. While he was being arrested, Brantley advised officers that he was in possession of under 50 grams of marijuana in his pocket, police said.

Stolen property possession

Terrance K. Prince-Judd, 24, of Delran, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and receiving stolen property on Oct. 21. Police said that Prince-Judd, who was driving a black Audi sedan, was stopped on Route 1 near Alexander Road for speeding and was found to be in possession of a silver marijuana grinder and a silver pipe containing burnt marijuana residue. Also in his vehicle were three personal checkbooks that were not in his name. Investigation by Det. Christoper VanNess revealed that the checks had been reported stolen.

Shoplifting arrest

Dylan M. Giannini, 26, of Kendall Park was arrested Oct. 12 on a shoplifting charge at Home Depot in Nassau Park Shopping Center. According to police, a loss prevention officer observed Giannini remove two Milwaukee High Demand lithium batteries valued at $169 from their packaging using a utility knife. He concealed them and then left the store without paying before being apprehended by loss prevention, police said.

DWI arrests

Juan F. Pena, 53, of Lawrence Township, was arrested Oct. 21 at 8:50 p.m. on a drunk driving charge. Police said officers were dispatched to Quakerbridge Road near Avalo9n Way to investigate a report of a car accident in which a black 2017 Hyundai has rear ended another vehicle. Pena, the driver of the Hyundai, was determined to be intoxicated, police said.

Fabian Gonzalez-Lugos, 39, of North Brunswick was arrested on a drunk driving charge on Oct. 22. Police said that Gonzalez-Lugos crashed his 2002 Chevrolet pickup truck into another car on Princeton Hightstown Road at about 7:30 p.m. Police said they determined that he was driving while intoxicated.
