Jekyll & Hyde the Musical is coming to the Open Air Theatre stage for a three-weekend run to close out the 2016 season. Set to begin on Sept. 30 and continue through Oct. 16, performances are Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 7 p.m.
Based on the classic tale by Robert Louis Stevenson, Jekyll & Hyde the Musical is the story of a London doctor who, in his quest to cure his father’s mental illness, accidentally unleashes his evil alternate personality wreaking havoc across Victorian London.
The Open Air Theatre cast features faces familiar to area audiences. Louis Palena takes on the dual role of Dr. Henry Jekyll and Edward Hyde. Audiences have seen Palena in numerous leading roles throughout the past six Open Air seasons.
Just completing a run as the Emcee in Cabaret, Palena has played Bobby Child in Crazy for You, the title role in Sweeney Todd the Demon Barber of Fleet Street and Frederick Frankenstein in Young Frankenstein.
Jen Gursky will play Emma Carew. She previously played Polly Baker opposite Palena in the 2013 Open Air production of Crazy for You.
Jaimie Geddes plays Lucy Harris. Audiences will remember Geddes for her memorable portrayals of Inga in Young Frankenstein and Velma Kelly in Chicago. Also in the cast is Michael Moeller as Sir Danvers Carew, Blair Johnson as John Utterson, Jill Palena as Nellie and Jordan Brennan as Spider.
Tickets are $15 for adults, $12 for seniors (ages 65 and older) and $10 for children (ages 12 and under). Tickets can always be purchased at the Open Air Theatre Box Office a half-hour prior to the performance. Group discounts are available.
