Agents and staff from ERA Central Realty Group volunteered at the MDA Summer Camp in Hardwick by working with the children on a tie-dye project. Over 50 campers and an equal number of counselors tie-dyed backpacks at the annual Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) Sponsor Day event.
MDA Summer Camp is a special time of year for kids with Muscular Dystrophy and other neuromuscular diseases; it is an opportunity for children to live unlimited and focus on their abilities rather than disabilities. Children attend summer camp at no cost to their families, so fundraising efforts are essential. The cost of sending one child to MDA Summer Camp for one week is $1,000.
For the team at ERA Central Realty supporting the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) has been at the heart of their community outreach efforts since they opened their doors in the 1980s.
“By sending kids to camp, we’re helping children with muscle disease have fun, shatter barriers, and gain confidence and independence,” said Stephanie Bellanova, broker associate and partner of ERA Central Realty, which has an office in Robbinsville. “We are committed to enriching the lives of children living with neuromuscular disease, and MDA Summer Camp is a very focused, very tangible way in which we can help. In the last five years, ERA Central has raised nearly $50,000 and has sent over 45 children to MDA Summer Camp.”
Suzanne Kelly, outreach coordinator for ERA Central added, “Being a part of the camp experience brings our fundraising efforts full circle. Connecting with these extraordinarily brave kids year after year is very special. It is what motivates us to organize the many creative fundraisers that our agents and the community support. It touches my heart to hear a camper say about camp, ‘It’s the best week of the year!’ and know that we helped make that experience happen.”
