The Mercer County Library System (MCLS) has joined the Library Ideas network to provide library patrons with free access to over 7 million songs and streaming movies and television content.

The Freegal Music Service increases the size and diversity of the library system’s music collection by offering patrons access to a huge number of music labels, including the Sony Music’s catalog of legendary artists. Starting June 1, registered card holders can visit the library’s website, mcl.org, and click on the Freegal Music icon to download three songs each week and stream up to three hours of music every day. The service also has popular music videos for download.

The songs are MP3 files and can be transferred and played using other devices, such as an iPod or Android, without the need to download software. The Freegal Music Service has a free mobile app available to card holders through the Apple App Store and Google Play.

The Freegal Movies and Television Service allows library patrons access to stream thousands of video selections from major content suppliers from their personal computer or portable device.
