American Repertory Ballet hosted its 8th Annual Alumni Gathering Nov. 23.

The gathering followed the opening day of Nutcracker at McCarter Theater. ARB has been performing Nutcracker since 1964.

The alumni gathering welcomed back ARB and Princeton Ballet School’s former students, company members, and faculty.

Among the alumni was Shari Nyce who danced the role of Clara in the 1978 performance of Nutcracker. Nyce is the owner of Nyce Bodies Pilates Studio in Pennington. Her daughter now studies at Princeton Ballet School and dances the role of a mouse in Nutcracker.

Former Sugar Plum Fairy Dodie Petit also attended the gathering. Petit danced in Nutcraker during the 1970s. ARB’s Princeton Ballet School offers a merit scholarship in honor of her mother, Ruth Petit, costume designer for Nutcracker.

Many recent high school graduates returned for the alumni gathering. Emily Munoz, is studying at Pitzer University in California. Her parents, Tim and ARB Board of Trustees member Jo-Ann Munoz continue to perform as one of the couples in the first act’s party scene.

Other recent alumni included, Angelica Generosa, who dances with Pacific Northwest Ballet, Morgan Caglianone, who dances with Columbia Ballet Collaborative and Maria Katerina Raphael, who dances with the Princeton University Ballet. Alumnus Evan Law is now studying at School of American Ballet and his brother Evan Law is a US Army Calvary Scout and studying at Rutgers University.

“It is always a pleasure reconnecting with alumni sharing their ‘remember when’ stories and the impact Princeton Ballet School training has had on their lives,” Princeton Ballet School Dean of Students and ARB Alumni Relations Coordinator says Lisa de Ravel said.
