Plainsboro Public Library invites entries to Wordtastic, a story slam. Take 10 pre-selected words, spin them into a 50-word (or less) story, and enter it. Finalists will be asked to perform their stories on Tuesday, July 5, at 7 p.m.

GroWW offers West Windsor Library Reader’s Cafe on Saturday, June 18, from 10 a.m. to noon. Open mic for children 3 to 8 with parent, grandparent, or older sibling. Mercer County Parks offers access to summer activities. The Marina on Lake Mercer, West Windsor, rents pedal boats, rowboats, and kayak for $15 per hour. Pontoon boat rides are 50-minute tours of the lake for $6. The docks on the Delaware, behind Waterfront Park, are available to boat owners. Rosedale Park in Pennington offers a 38-acre lake stocked with trout and a boat launch for row boats, canoes, and boats with electric motors. Gallery 14 invites artists working in all photographic media to submit works for a juried photographic exhibition opening Friday, July 15 at the Hopewell gallery. Submit up to five jpeg images and a text document with your name, home address, phone, E-mail, and a brief bio, on one CD. The list and titles of the photograph files must correspond exactly in number and name. Princeton Senior Resource Center offers Engaged Retirement Workshop, a two-session retirement planning course to help people who are approaching retirement make the most of the next stage of life. Audition

Actors Dance Studio is holding auditions for Lee Blessing’s “Independence,” a play to be rehearsed and performed in the Trenton area with performances on August 20. A role is available for an actress in her mid-30s who can play a character native to small-town Iowa.
