Although there are many potential opportunities for entertainment on New Year’s Eve, the funniest — and the only event in West Windsor that night — may be Joe DeVito’s show at Catch a Rising Star at the Hyatt in Carnegie Center. DeVito, born in Manhattan, was raised in the Bronx until his family moved to the suburbs. “Along the way, they instilled in him a love of good food and storytelling, values that have made him an emerging comic who frankly could stand to lose a few pounds,” says a blurb on his website.

A regular at New York’s Gotham Comedy Club, he was a featured performer on Comedy Central’s “Live at Gotham” and performed at the Just for Laughs Comedy Festival in Montreal. He has written for MTV, FUSE, Stuff Magazine, and the film “Super Size Me.” In 2007 DeVito appeared on NBC’s “Last Comic Standing 5,” making it all the way to the semi-finals. A recurring character on “Red Eye,” he has been seen on “The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson,” “Chelsea Lately,” and as a panelist on Animal Planet’s “Wild 100: Top 10” and “The A-List.”
